College Guidance Q & A

Larry receives numerous questions regarding college admissions from applicants and their families. Each week he will pick one question and share his response. This week's question is about the impact of summer programs on college admissions.

Q: Do colleges care about summer programs like Governor’s Schools, Global Scholars Clubs, or 1 week online classes?

A: All of these experiences are worthwhile and, to some extent, can be influential in college admissions. However, the more selective any college, the more frequently they will see these credentials. So you might want to think about items such as these as possibilities, not trophies. What did you get out of the experience? How did it change you?
